This is a very nice piece of labradorite/spetralite. Not really a cab because the flash is best if kept flat. This was going to be a citrine cab but I sort of got a little crazy and inspired by photo's I saw of Michael Dyber's work. It's sort of concave and curved in the back with a sort of cabbed top with a big concave spot to give freaky optics. Tim

Very nice job on both pieces...
I think you can still call the Labradorite a cab, at least I do. I call it a freeform. Although I generally do prefer domed cabs, with Labradorite you have to do what the Labradorite wants.
I like that Citrine piece very much. I'm going to bookmark it and copy that idea when I get back a little more advanced in my stone-cutting. Right now, I'm still setting up equipment, so I can only drool.

Two spectacular cabs! What tools did you use for the Citrine both to carve the circles and to polish those divots? Bob

Very nice! On that lab, you could always add a clear quartz top to it and then dome it. That might even act like a magnifier for the flash, maybe? I also want to know more about how you made the citrine. That is really amazing!
