This is called synthetic Larimar...... It has the color of Larimar but its man made. I just have to buy a rock of it to try out. Ralph hasn't cabbed it yet but the color is soooooooo pretty. What do you all think of this? yes it was made in China, of course. mary ann

color is nice. do those little white snowflakes occur throughout? I would expect more perfection in synthetic material.

I don't know, but I think the snowflakes look perfect. I'm not in to lab grown stones but I wonder how many bad for you chemicals were used since the Chinese seem to excel in sending them to us.

the snowflakes look pretty much just like the picture. A friend of mine goes to china about 3 times a yr. He found this about 3-4 yrs ago and wanted to find more. Well alittle old farmer had tons of it, so he bought it and is selling it in quartzsite. The big problem is, it in huge pieces, hard to find a small chunk. There is also strawberry quartz........ glass and a few others. I'm still on the fence with this, until ralph makes a cab.

Looks great, long as it's stable it should make good slabs and cabs. I have bunches of stuff from China and Thailand that I'm considering playing with, so far it's just sitting in a box collecting dust. Not sure about it's condition in regards to solidity and stability.

If it was synthetically made, what was a farmer doing with it? Did the lab that made it dump it on his land?
Looks nice.

Hmm, am I the only one thats thinks larimar is more blue? At least the pieces I've seen were. I'm not saying I don't like this. I think it's pretty cool, but doesn't really look like larimar to me.
Mary Ann, what would the price point of this be? Similar or less expensive than the real thing?

I almost bought some in Tucson a few years ago. Color was perfect and price half or less the real. Only problem was they didn't say it was fake until I mentioned it to someone else, was told it was fake and went back to ask. I didn't buy any and don't buy from people not up front. These were finished pendants in silver. Later I saw a "slab". Looked just like a ceramic tile, 4" square. Reminded me of the "reconstituted turquoise" you see in bricks.
