What is better for grinding, 60/90 blend or graded 80 grit? I have been using straight 80 grit with a recharge every 10 days or so for between 5 and 9 weeks depending on what the load is. Just curious to know some experienced opinions. Thanks!

My guess is you wouldn't notice a difference. In the old days 60/90 was commonly labeled "80 ungraded". With an average size of 80 and some as big as 60, down to 90.

Just curious, how much rock do you loose tumbling it for that long?

I loose about 1/3 of the volume of the original load. I usually make sure that I have a good mix of size in the lkoad and the stones that come out really small I set aside and put them in the next load as filler.

Save money, go with 60/90

My costs for silicon carbide are minimal. The difference between 60/90 and 80 are about 3 cents per pound. In fact, the 60/90 is actually more expensive. I live 1 hour from the manufacture and I make a road trip every few months and get my SC for about $1.85 per pound. ;-)
