I ordered and received a bag of Ceramic Pellets Large Cylinders from The Rock Shed. [great place, I WILL be back ]. Anyway, I began to wonder if I should have bought the small ones. When would one use the large vs the small cylinders? Thanks.

I use a mix of both in my vibe when I don't have enough small material.

Does that mean I should probably order some of the small and mix them when I need filler?

I would mix them--the Little Red Store sells "premixed" by the pound; I *really* like the mix, but it is a bit more expensive than the Rockshed. There are some shapes in the mix that the Rockshed doesn't sell. I believe Johnjsgems referenced some triangular ones that he sells as well.

Thanks, Susan. I will definitely look into the smaller ones.

I would mix two parts small to one part large. The small will really speed up earlier stages as a grit carrier.

I use a ceramic mix and throw in marbles, too. Marbles are fun

HaHa John, I'm glad I'm not the only one! Thanks all for the good info on the ceramics.

Don't have marbles but I have a bunch of wonky beads I've made. I doubt they'd hold up. LOL The rocks are still Step 2 and I'm starting to put together another bunch. Before I do, I'll get some of the small ceramics. Thank you for all the help.

I had a batch in a vibe that I allowed the polish to get to dry. I haven't found anything, including borax, that would remove it from tiny pits or cracks. I started the batch over again in 220 and run it until the dried polish was all gone. It had to run until those tiny pits were all removed.
