Jody,
Would probably help if you told us what kind of tumbler. What's the make and model?

It's hard trying to visualize the mechanics of what you have. But a few things come to mind. Can you use a second tap (nut) to allow you get to some good threads on the shaft? Can you use a washer to cover the hole that is too large? Maybe epoxy (if you have any) the washer into place? --I have also taken a stripped thread, coated it with epoxy, let it set 24 hours, and then "re-threaded" it by turning the tap down onto the damaged, epoxied, area.
I hope this helps a bit.

Just one more thought: Is that center shaft mounted in such a way that it can maybe be loosened and then moved up or down from it's permanent mounting? That might give you a "new" threaded area where your mounting nut needs threads.

As for grit, many members buy from The Rock Shed. www.rockshed.comFair prices and service can't be beat. Chuck

If it was an American made tumbler you could unscrew the rod and replace with allthread (probably 1/4"-20). I'm guessing HF is Chinese and metric thread.

I'm thinking the ce vibe is not made for rock tumbling, someone correct me if I'm wrong.Made for polishing shell casings, metal parts.

correct. I expect this tumbler will leak soon, or the bowl will wear through, or it will just stop. over time a few have tried and most report bad results. I think one person had some going for months with no problem, but I did not get any further reports
