;D Hello everyone! I'm b-a-a-a-c-c-k! I teach second grade in southern California.
It's that magical time of year in my second grade classroom when we get to tumble rocks as part of our Earth's Resources unit in science. OK, I admit that I have to stretch it a little to make it fit into our curriculum, but it is always a highlight of the year for my students.
You have all been SO helpful in the past answering questions. Thank you again for the support that you have offered this newbie in previous years. I still consider myself a newbie. I keep trying to make time to maybe take a geology class, go to some rock hound events, or even some shows, but I can't seem to squeeze it all in. I would LOVE to learn to identify more rocks on my own "in the wild" so to speak.
We have a mostly dry riverbed here where I like to go to pick up all kinds of rocks. I still can't figure out what most of them are and if any of them will polish up or just turn to sand in the tumbler.
Anyway, I just wanted to check in, say hi to y'all, and thank you again.
I'll be in and out over the next couple of months as the tumbler runs in the classroom.
