Has any one tried to fill, or fix, that depression in the bottom of the Lot-O bowel? I wonder what effect it would have, if any, on the action? - I was thinking of cleaning it really well and adding, layer by layer, "liquid tape", the stuff you use in electrical work as a brush on "rubbery" insolation. What do you think?
Thanks!

some have. epoxy, plumbers putty ... no loss of action or other effect ... notsure the liquid tape is necessary. I always meant to try plumbers putty - upto the day I sold my Lot-O before a cross country move.

Hadn't thought about that water proof putty. Thanks. --Glad to her there has been no one experiencing any difference in the action of the unit.

Is there a purpose at all to it being there?

I dont know if there is a specific reason for it, but it always seemed to me it would be a grit collector, unless the action keeps it moving out. As little grit called for, seems like most would settle in the hole.

Well I didn't know there was a depression in the bottom, so I had to go pull my bucket out of the shop... man, didn't realize how depressing it would be...

On the making of the bowl and that silly part, My guess is that it has to do with the mold that they use to produce the thing. It is that way because of some how the mold has to "hold on" to the rubber, or it's that way to provide some way of "extracting the final product from the mold or something like that. No doubt a different design in the molding process would be a good idea for the manufacturer. --I think we've all concluded that the little pit in the bottom isn't intended to do anything for the polishing process. I guess it is just a good thing for discussion purposed!!

i tryed using some silicon to plug it. first time i used it after letting it dry for a week it came out. i will try the epoxy next but one barrel is used for mostly ao500 and the other for polish so i haven't been cleaning it out very well lately. charlie

I think I'll leave mine the way it is since I use one only for 1000 and the other polish. One question is on how much of the hole would be plugged. The bowl curves into the hole, seems like you wouldn't want to plug too much. Just thinklng, aint got anything else to do. snuffy

You can use either the "stick" Plumers 2 part epoxy or a 2 part liquid epoxy to fill the hole. I like the stick because I don't have to worry about getting it on the sides of the barrel as with the liquid. Just fill the hole to form to the barrel as if that hole wasn't there.
I would assume that that hole/nob is actually where the molds top is but that's just a guess.

I appreciate all of the input! Great discussion! - I used the "stick" epoxy and filled the depression in my Lot -O. Started a new load this evening and it is running the same as before I filled the depression. I'll be interested at the end of this cycle if the epoxy stays in place or not.

If I were to fill mine,I would use plastidip, but that would be permanent.
