Are you sure it's pet wd? I know there's all kinds of pet wd. and I'm by no means familar with all of it. It just doesn't have that pet wood look to it. or at least not what I'm use to.The Az petrified forest park museum has a U S map of the pet wood that is in each state. So I know there's pet wd in each state.Where did it come from?GaryGary

Gary ive seen the map . it does`nt have all the woods that are to be found . Psaronius is not on there for illinois , ive found a good bit of that here and others . this is a rock i found here . i think it looks like wood , but it could be marble , it is quartz .

Neat stuff. Doesn't look like wood to me but it could be a cast. There are casts in the Wyoming area or in Oregon with similar looking green inclusions.....Mel

I'm not sure I'd call it a wood. Not anything like I've seen especially petrified wood. Also I've dig many limb casts from Congleton Hollow (Crooked River) and it's nothing to match with those either. Just the exterior shape of it just doesn't look right for a replacement.... I think it's some sort of ledge/seam type agate.

The edge was cut . i squared it to fit in the vise to cut it . the rock was roundish .alot of rocks here are glaciated, this adds problems for iding sometimes . im thinking more on the metamorphic silicate marble . But i do think it has a organic look to it , even if it is`nt .
