I picked up a couple small slabs of this material at a rock show earlier last year. Pretty cool material. Tricky to cut. Called Hypersthene. Looks plain jane from some directions but move a certain way and BAM takes on a whole new look and just pops and shines.... Plain Jane and then BAM BAM BAM BAM

What a spectacular material! I love this deep green (at least this is the color I see in the first pic) and tiger eye - like shine is fantastic.

Adrain,
Yeah the color is funny in that shot. Didn't notice till you said something. The cab is actually jet black.
Gary,
The first time I seen this material was at a little show earlier in the season, but like dbrealityrock said MAPLE TREE STORE on ebay sells rough..
I found that the slabs that I have have what I describe as tiny pores. It remined me of charcol. So toward the end I coated the top of the cab with superglue to help fill all the "pores". Since this is the only piece I have ever worked I am not sure if this was just a condition of the piece I got. Either way the material is way cool and will buy it again because I feel it is worth the extra step.
