Kind of cool stuff but I'm not crazy about all the rocks they are treating these days. For me, if you use resins and dyes to create unnatural colors you may just as well be using glass or plastic. Feel the same way about that treated travertine stuff they call rainbow cal silica and that Chinese Crab Fire Agate. I even ear the Chinese are faking rainflower pebbles from glass because the tourists demand is exceeding the supply. Just my humble opinion....Mel

I am in agreement with you Mel. These are in the same low class category for me as the pink, green and blue Brazilian Agate slabs. Oh, and the remanufactured Lapis, Turquoise and Malachite. OOPS! And the Synthetic "Opal". I guess it could have some redeeming qualities if its made from real plastic and not the fake plastic. All in the same category as plastic flowers. Bob

Me too, I like the natural stuff. Although it is very pretty, I still prefer the beauty of nature!

Mary Ann,
No matter what that piece is drop dead gorgeous!! I guess the way I look at it, if it sells and looks good which I am sure it will, it would be acceptable as long as the buyer knows it has been enhanced!! Hell even the old Indians used bear grease on their turquoise to enhance its appearance...so beauty is in the eyes of the buyer. How many "natural" stones have been treated in some way to make them prettier...lots of em I would guess..tanzanite, topaz and citrine come to mind...so if its not natural..don't wear it...I don't think so!! Different strokes for different folks!! Looking forward to getting it...that stuff is awesome...thanks Mary Ann!! Larry

Drop dead gorgeous Ralph. Exactly what do they do to that stuff to get it to look like that? I prefer natural too, but sometimes....... I had no idea the crab fire agate has been treated. What do they do to that? Ralph, it was great to see you the other day at Desert Gardens. Mary ann, hope to stop by one of these days when you're not "off wandering" to quote Ralph. 8-D Jo

No matter how it came about, that's a stunning cab. I'm more of a natural stone type but am guilty of filling pits with epoxy now and then. Steve

Even the Egyptians made glass "stones" to simulate the precious ones 5000 years ago. Things haven't changed at all! Bob
