I've only been running my tumbler for about two weeks (Lortone QT66) and it got me thinking... Is there any way to tell what my tumbler is eating in the power-department? The search here didn't turn anything up and I can't seem to find this info anywhere else. Maybe no one ever asks, or maybe no one really wants to know. -Aimee

There are meters that you can pick up at the hardware store that will tell you how much energy a device is using. I don't remember what they are called. Never fear, someone will know

It's gotta be less than the average teenager.

I'll bet it uses less in a month, than my wife's fancy computerized sewing machine uses in a day.

I think I read it was $1.85 a month for a 12# rotary. Not sure if I am remember right , or if my memory is right that what I read was accurate. But it was less than $2 per month.

Kill-a-watt meter - around $21-$26 at Amazon. I've got one...haven't used it on my tumblers yet. You normally use it to amaze yourself with how much electricity you waste each month by leaving computers on, not unplugging tv's, etc.

You know .... I never noticed any real spikes when running both my 33B and vibe .... along with the occasional WF usage.
If there was a spike.... it is minimal

The only time I noticed was the time I ran a 40 lb. HP (1/3 hp motor) for a month and bill was $30 higher than normal. The little fractional hp tumblers usually are not noticed.

lmao yeah ...ur nuts but so r we all like john says ... i never tested my tumbler but i had my neighbor help me test the kilowatts in the basement eletric co device spinner thingy and he turned on my cabbing machine with my dayton motor from my cabber and yeah i was kind of suprised at how fast it spun ...but I knew it was alot since it heats up the room after an hour n half ... but i will say my motor from the 12lb tumbler throws very little heat if any ...

*LOL* I feed two monster heat pump air conditioning/ heating units. Don't think the tumbler has a lot of impact at all. Plus we have an electric co op here in Texas and my bills here are a joke compared to back in California where a single air conditioner can cost you $400 plus a month *L*.....Mel

The generic name is "load meter", kill-o-watt is one brand. Lowe's [mine was $30] and likely Home Depot sell them too. Here in Oregon, libraries are stocking them for checkout, of course, they started this after I bought one. They read out in either watts used or amp draw. Your light bill should tell you what the power rate is per kwh. [1000 watts for 1hr.]
