I decided that I didn't care how cold it was in the garage today, I was going to finally get in there and try out my new saw. It took me a little while to learn how the auto feed worked, but once I learned about the little clamp and nothing was going to advance without it I was in business! Now, I have got to say, one thing that dawned on me was why I replaced so many blades on the tile saw...I cut as fast as I can I guess. I was amazed at how long it took to cut slabs but they are nice and even so I sure can't complain! Now, while the 10 inch saw was going, I was on the inland doing a little preform trimming. That takes a long time on that one too only I am holding the slabs. Now, they are not trimmed out as well as I normally do. Just too cold in there to stay very long. I had my space heater on but it never registered higher than 32 degrees. First cuts Couple Imperial jaspers and a dark green jade Jade with light behind it Near the end of cutting, the oil felt pretty icy but it was doing well. Seemed to make a bit of foam color even with plenty of oil flowing. This is one of the final cuts today. Took some small slabs off that rock. It should fit the other way in the vise now. I am not sure what that stone is. Maybe a ledge jasper. Seemed to cut faster than the other rocks. Right before the jasper, I cut some Rutile Quartz. I think this stuff is so pretty! Some preforms I cut; Peitersite Flame Agate Lapis, chrysopraise, Az pet wood, Goldstone, two types of Jade, etc. A group shot Thanks for looking! Fran

Don, I have to admit it, I am a whimp when it comes to the cold! Took a long time to thaw out when I finally came in. I wanted to go back out this evening for a while but I just couldn't make myself do it. I think I will be out there tomorrow morning. Have to get a whole lot more cut! Fran

32 degrees isn't bad. We only made it up to 4 below today. I moved my Genie inside to the kitchen counter. Water kept freezing in the trays out in the shop. I have the trim saw for my Genie, so I can do my trimming inside. Don

AWESOME Fran!!! You got some righteous cuts there for sure! I know what ya mean about staying cold after cabbing or slabbing. It takes me forever to warm up after too. I gotta stay out and finish, because once I come in, I'm not going back out! Nate

Oh my, you're gonna have so much fun with that new saw, Fran! When I got mine I kinda went hog wild - now I have boxes of slabs all over the place! LOL!

32 degrees, huh! We are 20 degrees below that. Around here, every well equipped shop has a wood stove in it to make it functional year round. Nothing like the smell of saw oil with a hint of maple. Hate to see the cold slow you down.
Darryl.

Can't go wrong with the Covington 10". I have one from the 1970's that's still running strong. The power feed motor still works perfect. Don

Ah Fran, you went and done it!!!!!
PM me your address and the box will be out later this week of California stuff....
Of course, if you think you already have enough stuff, I'll just keep my empty Medium flat rate here....
(I'm very envious of your spinning wheel. Wish myself had one....)
