Posting this here in case Ken decides to take this one would be neat to see that product before and after. Ken, if you're interested, would you take on creating stone scales on this 7 1/2" Snook Skinner? Wasn't sure if you'd want to do one with the shape of the scales on this...

That is a cool knife but I can see the difficulty with that one! Fran

Yepper, I didn't think about that. Okay, I'll post a pic of my hunter with dimensions, see if that's do-able. Thanks so much Ken!

How about this one Ken? 10.5"overall length, just bought it tonight so not in hand yet, I think the handle/scales will be between 3.5 and 4"...

That would be a good one to work with. I have been looking for workable fixed blades, as I have had a couple of requests for them.

It could be done, but off the blade. Cannot grind up close to the tang. Have to be finished totally off knife.

I've got several coming in that I purchased with the specific intent of asking a couple of you arteests here to see fi you would work them. Soon as I have them in Ken, you can get first pick of the litter.... I think the Snook will need to be done in 2 to 3 pieces, which is fine with me as I already have quite a few smaller pocket knives that are that way, so might add some character to it, maybe even use 2 to 3 different materials....hmmmmm....
Ken do you know is there an "easy" way to get the scales off a knife? I want to pull one side off this snook and see if I can lay out an outline for maybe three pieces to take it's place. Thinking maybe careful drilling of the brass to free them up?? I don't want to proceed without some expert advice....

Just take a Dremel and grind away. You are not going to save the scales or use the pins anyway. By the way, you have a flat lap, you can do it on that. Use CA glue and a popsicle stick and glue the pieces onto the side that goes to the knife. That will keep it together. when you get it to shape you want, soak in acetone (laquer thinner is best) to remove the stick and number each piece and the side 1 and 2. Then epoxy the pieces to the blade after you rough it up with a Dremel and sanding bit. Have fun.
