Be careful using Acetone... I learned the hard way that it can ruin a cab. I had a nice Pet Palm wood cab that I soaked in Acetone to remove a super glued dop.... the Acetone faded the little spots in the Palmwood. it's probably ok to use on agates but I would be leary of using it on petrified materials and some Jaspers....

Thanks Dan. Would denatured alchohol be ok? Actually all I have at the moment is rubbing alcohol but it should work the same as denatured, at least I think it should.
I am going to try some white out or shellac painted on top of the cab before I try superglue again.
As far as heat goes, like a lighter or a torch, I have ruined a cab because it burnt it all the way through. Must have had a fracture in it.

that is why I use wax! I have never ever ever ever (great just jinxed myself)had problems with wax not releasing. Don't get me wrong- Super Glue has many uses in my shop- but just not for dopping. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Dop wax not releasing is not the problem. Releasing when I want it to to stay on the stick is the problem! Lynn

Dan I will have to be careful with this type of material. I have soaked opal, fire agate, and a bunch of other material with no problem.
