ps .... DAM I love obsidian!!!!!!!!
I learn something new every time I work with obsidian and it never lets me down. Even if the batch is not rockin perfect, obsidian is one of those rocks that is perfection all by its lonesome.
Now .... what other pretty rock(s) can I fall in love with??? ;D
Someone was just asking me if I had ever worked with jade. Hmmmmmmm I wonder .....
Oh ya .... as always ... I want input, suggestion, criticisms ... etc.

Oh my, that is some beautiful Obsidian, Julie. And they came out so nicely. Too bad on that last one. Sorta looks like a jigsaw puzzle. Girl, you sure do have a way with that volcanic glass. I'm gonna start calling you "Hot Stuff" from now on! ;D Jo

Ok your neighbor sucks! Really too bad about the snowflake. I really like obsidian too- but I don't tumble enough of it. I cut a bunch for a memeber a few years back and after 3 or four lacerations to my poor fingers I kinda lost my need to work it any more (but I do cab some up on occasion) I might have to dig thru my boxes and see what I have for the future tumbles. Thanks for sharing!

I'll bet your neighbor feels terrible. Very good batch.

Oh dear, What a pity it that stone broke, it looks so niceand a perfect shape for wrapping , a lovley batch
Could have done with a bit more polishing as you say , but still a pretty good finish, some people prefer that to a high gloss finish,
Obsidian is no joke to polish can really try your paitience, and give you some heartbreaking runs,

Looks like a great batch but it is too bad about the preform. That is heartbreaking! Fran

Those look GREAT! I've got some obsidian that I'm trying to decide is enough to start a batch - but I think I never started them because I was afraid I'd never get a shine on them. Intimidated by obsidian...go figure. Or maybe it's the patience needed that intimidates me... Either way - you beat both!

Julie, that batch is beautiful and you work magic tumbling obsidian. With Jo's comment of the last looking like a puzzle piece, I had to comment of my thoughts. I don't see broken, I see intarsia. It's too beautiful to discard so maybe an opportunity to stretch your wings some more. Just a thought.

Intarsia .... I hadn't thought of that. Should probably get started learning how to do intarsia.
Thanks Everyone!!!
