I'm a little slow in posting some pics from the trip to Sedona in late January but finally got them to upload to Photobucket. Here are just a few of the many pictures I took. Thanks again Amy for such a great time.
Sedona's famous red rocks. These are just a few of the rock formations surrounding the Sedona area. It is amazing how red they are and how big. Simply beautiful.
Amy getting ready to hunt the creek bed.
View of creek bed where we hunted for agates and such.
We walked this creek bed for quite a while and found some interesting rocks as well as agate and jasper. I would never have thought about walking through this area but thanks to my tour guide I got some cool rocks.
Amy picked up a few rocks...lol. She had such a heavy bag she dragged it most of the way back.
After the creek bed and a quick stop at Subway for sandwiches, we headed to Rodeo Flats.
The view from the top of the ravine where we hounded was spectacular. We could see the San Francisco peaks near Flagstaff off in the distance.
There was even some snow on the nearby mountains. Lucky for us most of the area was clear and dry.
We stopped for lunch after climbing over boulders and going downhill into a ravine hunting agate.
After lunch we did some more hounding and ran across this cool partly frozen waterfall. It was just a trickle of a water fall but was so cool because there was flowing water under a sheet of ice so it looked like snakes going under the ice. Fortunately there were no snakes.
Amy climbing down the waterfall. She did a much better job at this than I did...lol.
After all day rock hunting we headed out of the ravine. It was a tough climb for both of us with all the rocks we were carrying. This was the view I saw most of the way...lol. Yep, Amy I had to post this :cheesy:
As the sun was setting we headed for home, tired, sore, but happy because we made it out of the ravine with lots of rocks.
This was such a great trip. I was so tired I could hardly move and Amy even had to admit she was a little sore...lol. I have an issue with whoever named the area Rodeo Flats since it definitely isn't flat but it did have some great rocks.
We did another rock trip the next day, guess we are gluttons for punishment...lol. I have more pictures but they will have to wait until later.
Hope you enjoyed the trip.
