Yesterday I got to go estate rock hounding for the first time in a few months. I had addresses of 3 estates to go check out. I scored on 2 of them and one of them was too expensive.
The first one was just plain fun, the guy says if you just haul them off you can have them. Not alot of rock, about 4 buckets worth, but fun to gather them up. Lots of pet wood and other assorted rocks and 2 jars of polish compound. The crates and boxes and the 2 front buckets in the front of the trailer are from the first spot.
The second one was a bust, I made an offer but I left with nothing.
The third one was an old rock hound that had set aside a few buckets to work himself and then after he had 30 or so buckets piled up decided he would never get to them all, so he sold them all to me for a very reasonable price. The best part about the whole trip was talking with this amazingly knowledgeable man about rock hounding and cutting and polishing and we would have went on and on but he had other commitments and I still had a few hours drive to get home.
I came home with a pretty good haul and a new rock friend whom I hope to go visiting or hounding with in the near future. My new rock buddy, Chris and my granddaughter Lizee (2 yrs) helped me load the buckets up, Lizee told me today she is going to take over the "rock bizzness" so I gotta teach her right. She already knows what a Montana is so she is well on her way.
Lizee pulled a few rocks out of the buckets to take home, what she picked out were a couple of Lagunas and a piece of rainbow obsidian, so she already has good taste.
Here are some of the buckets up close
It is good to be home.
Thanks for lookin.................Tony
