polishing in a vibe...what consistency am i aiming for? i have gotten really good at getting that "just right" slurry with the grit...but can there be "too wet" with polish? i know i don't want it to dry out so this time around i have been keeping it wetter than usual just for safety...will it be less effective if overly wet?
thanks

Generally you want to put in your rocks wet and add the polish. Watch the action. If it slows down add tiny amounts of water until the action returns to normal. If the polish is too wet to abrade the rocks then it isn't doing anything.
Hope that helps, Chuck

As Chuck says Watch - - watch -- watch - - - and once the grit gets onto the stones and they start turning grey check regular ,
I find that if the grey grit is glossy and moving around well,,, that's what you want
If the grit is becomming dull and moving slowly add a few sprays of water till the grit takes on a glossy look again
dont add to much water as it will wash all the grit off the rocks
Obsavation is the key to vibes
Once you get the "drift of them" your away, and you know how long to leave them and when to give them a squirt or two of water,

i really like using the pringles lid now instead of the red one that came with the vibe. i use a wire around the barrel to hold the lid in place and now i can see when the rocks are tumbling nicely. if they are slowing down, i look closer with the lid off and can tell if they need a little more water. in my polish stage, i do the connrock method of just adding grit, 1000ao, tripoli, to and co in that order and add water when it slows down. that method of polishing is making nice polished rocks that the wife likes to decorate with. charlie

If it looks to wet, leave the lid off for an hour or two until enough water evaporates of and place the lid back on. You can use sawdust, it works too. Debby & Tom
