Hey everyone... how was your weekend? We ( Diane, my Mom, and I ) were at a flea market this weekend, trying ( ...unsuccessfully ) to sell some of my stuff... Everyone likes them, no one wants them.... Anyways... Today, I asked a stone and crystal vendor there if I could borrow one of her crystal points to try wrapping and she happily agreed. This was my first attempt at a crystal, but I think it came out pretty well. I did my best not to make it look like anything else I have seen. I sure hope she likes it I give you a quartz point wrapped in 18, 20, and 24 gauge copper.... First time using 18 gauge also ( but I'm used to 14, 12, and larger at work.. so B) ) .. and from the side... ... here's a good angle... ... and I have nothing to hide, so here's the back with a ruler... it's pretty big a 3 inches long. Well, what do you think?... Will she be happy? Thanks as always, Chris

If she doesn't like it, send it to me.   I love it. That looks like something Merlin would have owned. I bet you could sell stuff like that at a renaisance fair.
Awesome piece. But what keeps the crystal from slipping out the bottom?

I think Chris, you are trying to sell to a cheap crowd. If you go to swap meets, you need tumbles with glue on bails and cord necklace that you can sell cheap( a few dollars). Take your great pieces for showing and also priced to sell for the one in a million customer there. If you work a Renaissance as was mentioned here, you could sell at a very high price and get it. It is all about the market you are set up in and what the mind set of the crowd is. That is some amazing wire work! Fran

Jo, Chris is at work so I will try to explain the fancy wire. He took a piece of copper and wrapped another piece of copper around that, wrapped tightly to make a coil. Then he wrapped the coil around a plain piece and a plain piece of copper wrapped around the whole thing giving it another dimension. It seemed very complex to me but then I don't do wraps. Everyone at the show was watching him work. He can clarify this much better but I am awestruck and he is my son. I don't think I am just prejudiced I think it is very very good. He does some outstanding work and he agreed to sell it for $40. Pretty cheap I think. But his prices are reasonable considering the metal used and the quality. Okay that's enough from a proud Mom. Amy, there was a natural bump on the back of the Crystal. He used that to hold it in. Tanya (Chris's Proud Mom)

That is amazing Chris! I agree with Fran too, you have to fit your merchandise to the crowd you're courting.
Tanya, you've got every right to be proud!
