I wasn't sure if I should post this in the photography area or here.. so I selcted to post it here..
Many of you may or may not know that I have two forms of CTS, nerve damage and chronic back pain.. But I still try to remain active.. When My wife's brother was inducted into Maryland's country music hall of fame, I wanted to capture some of his performances.. But almost 4 mins holding my Kodak easyshare camera.. may arms and back gave out.. Sure i could have used a tripod.. but what I was attempting to do was move about the stage while Jimmy sang..
Even with a home made handle which I now use on my camera (made from an old ski pole) I can hold the camera a bit longer.. But after searching the web.. I found this guy who had the same type of issue but wanted a hover system for his video camera. (my Kodak can take upto 4 min videos at a time)
So I've set out to create a hover system and attach it to the already created handle.. counter balance with a small weight and made with two different sizes of PVC pipes.. anchored at opposing ends I'm almost ready to give this thing a test run.. Hopefully I'll have something to show for this in a few months.. if not sooner.

What the hell does this have to do with rocks? :nono: :nono: :nono: This is for tumblers, saws, vibes and anything related to them.

Ken.. simmer down.. This means.. that I can take more and better images of my works in progress and minerals.. Without it I may not take any images at all..

Uhhh, Mr. Wizard, Sir... I don't think it is appropriate to tell Rockmanken to simmer down, Sir. He was informing you of your misuse of the Home Made Equipment section. In the description of the section it states that is it for "tumblers, saws, vibes and anything else related to them". I think it's just confusing, that's all.

Aw, is this the wizard (wiz) with the mental disorder, that deleted all his nonsense posts and left in a huff and was band from this and other sites or or a confused newbie? (how would/could we know you if you signed on as a guest?)
Except or the occasional rock slide , rocks re static item and BEST photographed with a secure tripod and shutter release or timer.
FYI there are plenty of DIY steady cam (hover) units on the net already and none of which are used here. If it would help me take better pix of my Opals I'd dig my old one out and use it (it was posted on the net somewhere).
Best of luck with your venture and say 'HI' to Jimmy for me.
Dr Joe .

It works even better if you are nude during the photographing, however, don't forget to make sure there are no reflective items in the room as none of us want to see THAT reflection....

Funny. I was taking a picture of my wifes jewelry display recently. She has a folding mirror with a personal Bio on the other side. Well, in one pic my face in there right in the mirror, she cracked up, said it looked like some "in memory of" thing.

I know it has been annoying when it isn't funny, but it is really kinda sad too. His wanting to interact with a community, yet being completely unable or unwilling to fit in, unable to learn form past blowups, and being unable to stop deleting onself, even after the behavior becomes another source of derision. Sad.

We had the same problem with him on another wiki. Just a few days ago we got fed up with him, and banned him.

Sadly, he cannot even keep his own free sites up and going . He doesn't want to change as he doesn't see there is anything wrong with himself. If you've got 15 minutes to waste, Google him and follow the shattered trail. It's kind of a textbook case. And it's not just Rock Forums either. Also goes by our gorman.
