Hi all. I fixed my problem of a noisey tumbler and having to deal with the stones always cracking in the polish stage. I'm using plastic pipe on my homemade tumbler and yesterday I bought some black rubber mat from the hardware store. I lined the inside of my polish barrel and now the motor makes more noise than the barrel. Just thought I'd pass this on to everyone with homemades.

what did you use to glue the liner to the barrel?

Hey Warren. I glued the liner in using ABS cement. I cut the liner to size and fit it in the barrel, then clamped one end and then lifted the other end and smeared the cement along the seam and stuck that end down. Then moved the clamps to the end I just cemented and did the same with the other side. Since the liner was cut to fit tightly, that's the only area I glued. The cement melted the rubber and the plastic together and also filled any gap there may have been in the seam. BIG difference in the sound.
