I'm always torn between John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Gary Cooper and Jimmie Stuart when it comes to westerns. The more modern ones are grittier, but the old ones have more charm. Of the moderns I love Joe Kidd, High Plains Drifter, the Chris Kristopherson Billy the Kidd with the Bob Dylan soundtrack and of course, Lonesome Dove which it is unTexan not to love. From the old ones, Naked Spur, Winchester 76 , High Noon and the Glen Ford Jack Lemmon "Cowboy" are hard to beat. And don't Forget Magnificent Seven which is still friggin awesome after all these years.....Mel

Trying to get that theme song off the net and cut it for a ring tone. When I do, if anyone else wants, let me know. Small mp3 file for your mobile phones....
edit - okay, got the song, gonna cut it down suitable to a ring tone. Let me know if anyone wants a copy, or pretty much any other ring tone for that matter.

As good as it gets...Tuco made the movie...still cannot understand how Clint is "The Good"?
Silverado gives it a pretty good run for the money

Ah yes. Great movies. And what did most of them have in common? Ennio Marricone. He's the conductor who wrote the music for so many of those movies. My favorite one is Farewell to Cheyenne which plays in Once Upon A Time in the West. UPS also used it for one of their commercials.

First time I saw this one, I was overseas.......saw the European version. Has scenes not shown here. Like the guy taking the round in the arse. Surprising what the US censors take out, or do not allow. There was even full frontal nudity. Woody

Mark, that watch chime was in For A few dollars more. Westerns are one of my hobbies. I collect westerns movies. Have over 400 vhs and dvd's. There were a lot of good westerns made.

Pale Rider was a good one too, ol' Clint protectin' those folks a prospectin'. One of my all time favs was Jeremiah Johnson. We took in the True Grit remake last month and really enjoyed it. Bridges certainly ain't the Duke, but did a fine job nonetheless.
