Never was exactly sure of the name of this. I see lots of this pattern in red and gray, but the yellow and bluish-gray make this a bit different. Got a 4x6x8 piece at the Madras pow-wow two years ago for $30. Recently took 6 slabs off of it. Still got about 1.5" thick heel. Here are 5 of the largest slabs, each 4x5.5 approx. I had a slab of the same material and sent a piece to Donnie. It cabbed OK, but you can only get 1 or 2 poppies in a cab and it loses the punch that the whole slab has (IMHO). I will try to make a tile for a box top. this is a scan of the rough, but the scanner is not showing the dimensions very well. I do not think I have a pick of the rock, I need to look back through my pow-wow photos

I have about a dozen boxes made to take a ceramic photo tile in the lid. The quality varies form vendor to vendor and sometimes the finish is more matt and sometimes more high-laquer. Sometimes the hinge is piano (all the way across) andsometime cheaper version with two hinges. I have roughed out about 15 different tiles from 4x4 to 6x8 but I have never finished any. I got a 3x24 belt sander with this project in mind, but think I should have gotten an 8" endplate for my arbor. I like htis vendor's boxes best but they have a min order of $100, or they did a few years ago. www.dyetrans.com/group.php?webmaincat=sub_prods&websubcat=wood&websubcat2=wood_boxes&websubcat3=laquered&title=DyeTrans Lacquered Wood Boxes
