These are about 4.5 x 3.5. there are holes in the rock and it is a bit brittle. I cut the thin planning to make a dublet for strength. I cut one other (not shown) about 8mm to try some creative things with. also got a couple inch end cut that was clamped in the vise. I have a huge 10lb piece that seems better silicified. I will try to put up a pic of that rough.

Interesting pattern & color. Have you worked with it before? Cabbed it or anything?

not yet. I expect only a satin shine - just from the pottery like feel of it. I might even experiment with a matt finish in a set of rounded square pillows.

It would be nice in a black setting too!

I have some large 40mm black onyx teardrop bead frames (i.e., hollow) I might try to put some of this in one of those in some sort of intarsia

this is my birdseye that i bought in qsite... very solid and makes great cabs. it amazes me how different the material can be. I have also had it with more white and reds.

Mary Ann - that looks like it will be much easier to work. My other piece is somewhere in between. I think I have a 3rd piece that is more solid but I have not seen it for a while. Will look.

That is an awesome slab. I hope you can find a good way to work with it.
