Another step completed. You all remember the awesome cab that Dan (highplainsdrifter) made for me: Well here it is again after Phil (steelandstone) worked his magic with the silver. Phil was very patient with me as we went through several test patterns: Pretty cool, huh? Adrian is working hard on manufacturing a Japanese Gate for this to hang on.

That is awesome!! We are all waiting for the finished product but it gets harder and harder to see it get any better but with Adrian involved all things are possible. Everyone has done such a wonderful job on this work of art. Thanks for sharing.

Amazing setting. Phil raised the bar for me now Adrian PS. Looking at that silver setting and at the variety of colors in the cab, I wander if the gate would look better made of stainless steel only, or of more metals (brass and copper sanwiched on the upper beam). I know the two of us discussed this previously but maybe some opinions here would help too.

Yes, please. Everyone chime in w/ opinions on metal for the gate. Right now the plan is for stainless steel for the uprights and the lowest beam that the cab will be hanging from. The upper beams will be farther away from the cab. The closest one is to be brass, and right on top of it is to be copper. Thoughts?
I'll post a pic of Adrian's design when I get home

Here is a picture similar to what Adrian will be building: The question is the top two beams. What meteal/color should they be???

AnodizIng is a cool effect. But definitely not what I'm looking for. The gate is supposed to showcase the cab not compete with it.

Adrian, Thank you for the kind words, but it is very hard to raise the bar to an artist such as yourself; especially after the awesome sword. I can't wait to see your part of the project. And for my :2cents: :2cents: I like the original plan for uprights and beams. The only other thing I would consider is making the uprights out of some type of wood rather than S/S and keep the beams just as you all have planned.

Here are the posts for the gate. A lot of work went into these. One of Adrian's friends made them:

Some news in the gate building. Todd, I hope it is OK to add the pics here. I almost finished the lower beam. Not yet polished and I still have to trim some 1 mm from its top side. Here is the plan of the gate, to figure out better what beam I am talking about: They will be assembled something like that: only the lower beam will go through the vertical posts. Oh, and I also polished the posts: That would be all for the moment. Adrian

Looking great guys - what is the plan for the base? I like the combination of brass and copper for it, from what I'm visualizing.
