I'm not sure where to post this so I thought this would be a good place to start. Back on August 8th, 2006, someone started a thread titled Slab Grabber Demo Lots of Photos!!. This was just the information I was looking for but unfortunately all the photos have disappeared. Does anyone have a link to another demo of a slab grabber being used on our kind of slabs/stones? Thanks.

Thanks~! I'll have to study those photos. Wish there was a "Slabbing and Cabbing for Dummies." ;D I've been think of buying the smaller of these 2 slab grabbers I want to be well-versed on their usage first.

Not sure how much verse there is. The various grabbers differ in design and thus differ a bit in the "edge" of the cut face they can grab. Some might require notching where others might not for the same rock. The ones with the screws on their face grip more generally. The unit must in turn be clamped into the vise, so the best unit for you is always a function whether your vise is front-back or bottom-top clamping. A great grabber that cannot be easily held in your vise is useless. Some large ones bolt down in place of the vise, but this is often not on option for smaller saws. I like the idea of making a screw-face type grabber as part of the vise.
Have a good look at the photos, and it is all common sense from there.
