Or maybe hasty in my saying Stillwell wasn't as good as Woodward. Finally cut some of the large rocks I got from atop the hill at 4L. There are 4 L's in Stillwell, so that is the brand. Large 7" all green rock. ![](http://www.varockhounder.com/uploads/2011032115191078.jpg) Mosses ![](http://www.varockhounder.com/uploads/2011032115204234.jpg) ![](http://www.varockhounder.com/uploads/201103211521296.jpg) Red brecciated ![](http://www.varockhounder.com/uploads/2011032115228729.jpg) ![](http://www.varockhounder.com/uploads/2011032115236700.jpg) Excuse my badmouthing Stillwell before I cut any rocks. Looks like they are better than anything I found at WWR. Ken

Ain't no flies on any of that! Good looking material. That agate is terrific.

Yeah, I think Stillwell is a relatively well kept secret. Maybe because it's even more remote than WWR. There is a very large collecting area; just depends on where the cows are, I think. Great finds!

We enjoyed our trip there. I liked when we checked in for the RV office by signing in. They told us we pay when ready to leave so they know how much to charge us. Try that at KOA. I liked the "get on the scale holding your rocks" too. If they could just get a phone signal.

they have wi-fi now. They told us to go 3 miles back to the gate and start working back. We didn't find anything back there. All picked over. At about 2 miles there was a power line running across the road(trail) and up over the hills. We went up th first hill and found a couple small pieces. Then I went up the second hill(almost straight up, 60 degees) and started finding large pieces of agate. I wanted to go over to the next hill, but got voted down. Still found some nice stuff there. It is really rough terrain and just 2 tire tracks for a road. When we weighed the rocks, they said it was on the honor system. Told her 22 lbs and she said 20/$10.

Great pieces you cut there Ken. I can see some fantastic knife scales from those!
Those nay-sayers should have realized that Ford would handle anything you threw at it! Imagine what you could have found over that next hill!

Got my best when looking for you, thought I would go back to and up the hill side we found before we left but never happened. Found pet wood, nice agate and fire agate all within ten feet of each other. Yeah, no pics yet, still trying to merge back into work and some new stuff.

HA! Love it when we have to eat our own words. I <3 Stillwell and the Big Bend is beautiful, too. Did you get down there? (no rock collecting at the Bend...) It was nice to meet you and Donna. The slabs are beautiful. I wish we could have spent more time...I'm gonna cut into the 6 lbs of rock I brought home from Woodward...will post pics. ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) S

Looks like you did good at 4L. A couple of us went over to 4L when everyone else went to Needle Peak but we didn't find anything like you did.
