I tried doing a search for "aol cant find my trace.dll" but came up with nothing. You need to search for the exact phrase, and you might find something to help you. You probably will need to reinstall aol. Stay away from places you aren't 100% sure about Sands, you never know what you'll get.

Hey John,
You can download the file, I believe it is atrace.dll, at DLL-files.com. It will be zipped so you will need to have a program to unpack it. Hope that helps. I used to do a little pc work and I can tell you that a lot of the calls I went on people had downloaded and installed screen savers and things went south. My wife had one running on her laptop and when I checked it the screen saver was running almost every bit on memory on her machine! She couldn't figure out why it would take so long when she would move the mouse or whatever to get the screen saver to stop. Good luck, Bill

Sands - when you reinstalled AOL from the disk, did you uninstall it first?

Could make a difference to do that Sands. You probably can't use the uninstall feature but try it first anyway.

Wasn't it the screen saver that screwed up your puter? You trying to put it back on?

Sands, definitely uninstall it - completely uninstall it - before trying to reinstall. Otherwise it doesn't really install anything.
Just in case you don't know this, but to uninstall go to your Control Panel (Settings --> Control Panel if on an older version of Windows), choose Add/Remove Programs, then select AOL. It'll walk you through the process of removing it including whether to keep your filing cabinet and offline files. After that, try reinstalling it.
All of this is dependant on whether the DLL replacement that offbeat described works or not, of course...

Remember that for the next time Sandsman1. Whenever you have re-install a program always remember to UN-install the former program completely. See, there are those pesky Dll programs that just do their best...worst to screw you up when re-installing a program.
