Spent most of this weekend creating my mock-ups for the upcoming rock show. I decided to do 2 cases since they needed a few more filled. I brought home some different thicknesses of roofing insulation and bought me 8 yards of black flannel type material. I sort of had a vision...and they turned out not so bad. It's hard to get a decent pic of either....but it gives an idea. Echostone Display Case Agate of the World Display Case I'm excited to put these out. Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks... Steve

Very nice... but all those silly rocks kinda hide the wonderful fabric underneath... tell you what just send those pesky rocks to me... I'll do something with them!! My God Steve those agates are jaw dropping! Wonderful!

Thanks Everyone! The closer it gets to the show the more excited I get to set them back up. I'mnot sure if I will label anything or not. All of the Echostones are Laguna or Mexican Agates. 90% of the Agate display is Mexican Material with a few from USA and Africa. Still undecided if labeling each piece will distract from the overall appearance. steve

Steve,
If I can be so bold,
I really like the first one, especially the mirror in the middle.
I agree that you really don't need titles on this case since the goal is to show off your echo stones rather than show a variety of locations, though a small printed card in a corner explaining where the majority of the material is from wouldn't hurt (I'm a label reader - and when I display, even though most walk by, I always try to put information in for those who share my interests.) I really like the multi-leveling effect, which is hard to see in the photo.
As for the other display, I like it, with the height and the spacing of the large pieces, but some of the smaller pieces near the front seem a tad crowded near the bases of the larger pieces. Would it help the spacing to pull them out an inch? Your large pieces are well separated, but the small ones look be be huddled up against the bases. As for labeling, not necessary, but your title - agates of the world (for me) cries for a label telling me from which parts of the world these agates are from. I see mexican, but I also see a dugway. If I saw an agate I didn't recognize, I'd want to know it's origin. (Wow, what part of the world is this guy from?) Just a thought. The material is incredible and I would be hunkered down by your case for quite a while admiring it! (I bring my own handiwipes and Windex to shows for just this reason.)

Thanks Lowell! I appreciate the input. That's exactly the reason I posted here because Iknew i would get some great advice. I will draw up some labels for the Agate Case and I agree with you about a card in the Echostones just describing what it is exactly I want to accomplish with the title. You are correct on the Dugway, also a Dryhead, A nice Teepee Canyon from Roger, a HUGE Condor and a rare nodule from Africa. Thanks Again Lowell. I take advice very willingly. steve

LOL Lowell. I never thought to bring windex and handiwipes. I would have to include a drool bib in my wardrobe for sure if I was seeing Steve's cases . I agree, labels would be nice for the agates of the world. I'm a label reader too and love to know where the rocks come from when I see a great bunch of them. I'm still working on my display but hope to get it ready in time for next weekend's show. I procrastinate because I see displays like these and think, gee mine look like crap. Might have to try to post some pics for some help too. Good idea Steve.

Thanks Diane! I didn't even know where to start when I finally decided to put a display together. The more I got into it, the funner it became and the ideas started flowing out. It's amazing what some roofing insulation and flannel can do. Post some pics of your case Diane... steve

Steve,
I won't have a case. I don't have enough stuff worthy to put in one. My contribution this year is making stuff for the wheel of fortune and running the wheel of fortune booth for the club. It's been lots of fun so far, and interacting with the kids should be great. Maybe in a couple of years I'll have stuff for a showcase.
