Okay guys and gals I started out pretty good, but I am not too happy with the bale. I was getting blurry eyed and will re-wrap it tomorrow or when I find a few minutes. I now remember that I alway did struggle at the end of one of these. Hope all is well in your worlds!! Thanks for letting me share my attempts and all pointers are welcome. John

I love the cross. Well done. However to be honest,,, I would rewrap it too.

That's a gorgeous cross John! As far as bails, I'm no expert by any stretch, but this works good for me. I use a dowel, pencil, pen, whatever size (and shape) bale I want to make. Then I bend the wire around it so all the wires in the bail are the same size with cleanly shaped bends. Then leave the dowel in place while I struggle with the binding until it's finished lol.
