Howdy folks,
Beautiful 70 degree day here in Texas so of course, I had to go off to my favorite rockyard to look or treasure in their decorative rock heap. The pile was pretty small as lots of folks are doing rock work in their yards at this time of year but I still made some cool finds. here are a few pics. thanks for looking....Mel
A huge hunk of puddingstone. Nice and solid with the jasper, quartz and agate pebbles sealed by what appears to be yellow moss agate. Pic doesn't show it off well but hsi is one of two real nice ones I found this hunt.
Really nice hunk of agatized Texas Turritella. For scale, the largest snails are over two inches long and there's also coral and other mollusks present too. I imagine my wife will jump on this one before I get my new saw and get to slice it up *L*.
Good Rio Grande agate hunting today. Found close to a dozen. The largest at the center bottom is too big for a ten inch saw but has a red moss/plume core and yellow moss around the edges with little botryoidal geodes of red agate that radiated from the core to the exterior.
Big hunk of dark wood, shell rock, rhyolite, and banded agate:
Fancy flint. Upper left with a big pectin fossil imprint and the others with nice banding:
And finally, tumbling stuff, everything from puddingstone to tiny Rio Grandes, to brightly colored jasper:
And finally for you in the frozen north, some Texas wildflowers in my yard:
Huge Texas golden columbine:
Bluebonnets, and this is a very dry year too:
Texas Paintbrush:
And of course, the ever present pink primrose:
