I went for a short hounding trip yesterday. These are a few of the small pieces I collected and cut when I got home last night. The first photos are of a VA bloodstone (heliotrope) with a quartz vein and some healed fractures filled with epidote. I had heard that such could be found but this is the first piece I have run across. Not sure that this would meet the standard definition of a bloodstone but the name seems fitting nonetheless. The next photos are of a small stone comprised of feldspar and hematite. I have passed such stones over in the past but decided to grab this one and split it open. My close-ups did not turn out well but the stone is actually quite interesting inside... should make for a few neat cabs. This next one is awesome in person but I had a heck of a time getting a good photo... hopefully you will be able to get the general idea anyway. This is comprised of red jasper, hematite and epidote in a clear to milky quartz matrix. This next one is a grey/green/gold quartzite. Most of the slabs are quite solid and I am hopeful to get a few knife scales out of the best ones. And lastly, a small jasper with epidote inclusions. Thanks for looking. Hope you enjoyed. Mike

I would say your hounding really paid off! What amazes me is that you went out, found them and still had the energy to come home and slice them up! Great job! I keep going back to that first one. It really has an amazing pattern to it! Fran
