Roger Looks like you are on your way. That is a fine job for your first ring. If that were my piece I would put a little filler under the stone to make it a little more showy. I use plastic from old coffee can lids. I also would use a little more force on your bezel to get to flatten a little tighter to the stone. BTW nice stone. Don

I find that if I give the edge of the stone a sharper dome and a little thinner edge it will slide into the pocket easier. I usually make the bezel a little thinner by sanding the back edge, just glue a piece of 400 wet or dry sandpaper to a flat wood block. Keep practicing I started the same as you. I still don't consider myself an expert. You have a good solid bezel to base line, invisible I like that.

Hi Roger Now that is a very nice ring and a realy nice stone as well I love the scaloping around the ring did you do that or buy it ready done
Thanks for the tip Don of a filler a good idea,
I use Obsidian with Opal settings for that reason as well as the colour increase
A sharper edge is also a good Idea.
Our students start with a plain "D" wire ring as a first piece
You are getting on realy well
Thanks for showing
