Using this page because it's got the best shine! Does one use Cerium Oxide after 100,000 grit Diamond paste or before, or are they about the same? (For most hard stones, on a felt backing). And, is 600 grit S/C the same as Pre-Polish? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, -Chris

I go from 600 grit S/C to cerium polish with great results. No diamond steps used after the fine grind on diamonds. Bob

I never had luck with cerium. After 600 I go all diamond with 1200, 3000 then finish with diamond paste on leater with 14k and 50k

I have heard that some stones will not shine with diamond and others do best with it. If you have gone as high as 100,000 diamond paste, you would only be going backwards with the cerium. I would only change track if the diamond wasn't getting you a shine because I am sure the cerium would be a larger micron size. Fran

If I do not get a desirable polish after 14k diamond wheel I normally get what I want using Zam on a muslin buff and a small shot of silicone spray. But I am not hard to please.
