I've been watching these for a month.They are fairly close to main roads and a mall development is real close by.One day I watched a Raven harass the nest until another owl appeared from the lower tree and went after the raven.

Ravens are notorious for raiding other bird species nests and geting the eggs or babies. In the Bay Area I had noticed a significant decrease in the dove population when the ravens moved in. The ravens have almost decimated their population.
