Hi all, I am ready to bite the bullet. I am going with the Thumler Model B and the UV10 industrial tumblers.
In addition to this equipment what else do you feel might be necessary to get started? Now that I have chosen what I believe to be the best equipment for the jobs that I intend to do. I, as you would expect, also want to get the best possible price.
Who have all of found to have had the best deals on equipment?
Who would be my best source for rough, grit, and ceramic/plastic filler?
For the size tumblers that I am getting what quantity of rocks, grits, polish, pre polish and filler should I start out with?
Also, who would you avoid doing bussiness with? If you don't feel comfortable posting an answere to this please PM me with the info
Sorry about all of the questions I hope to be able to return the favor in the future.
Thanks again, Unclestu

Well I can't help you with the deals or anything, but if you are going to get that serious, buying your grits and media in bulk is the only way to go, I would get 25 to 50 lbs of each to start and see what that gets you and also enough drums for each stage of the process for each machine. shop around and talk to suppliers, being you are gonna buy a big order one of them might throw in some of the extras for free if you make a big enough purchase, like grit of a extra barrel or something like that, that will bring your overall cost down. send out emails describing exactly what you want and ask for price quotes and don't forget shipping costs. this way takes longer but alway saves me money, I rarely ever pay retail for anything, my wife calls me a tight arse cheapskate, but if I can wait and extra week or two and save money why not?

Crap, I just noticed that the UV-10 is "out of stock", but you may still want to ask him when he'll have more of them. Also, you'll want to purchase an extra barrel and label it "for polish only". This makes a ton of difference!!

Thanks Tony but I have not sold Thumler's products for several years. One of the reasons I stopped is the Cabellas and other reloading supplies like "Lock Stock & Barrel" that sold Model B at about my cost. Beware the Vibe tumblers at those places though. They are always the light duty version, not the "Industrial" which you need for rock. Order lid gaskets when you order the "B" model. It is a weak point in an otherwise good tumbler. The drum and liner had a 5 year warranty when I was a dealer but lid gasket was not included. I would consider the conversion kit too. It is two shafts and two 3 lb. drums and used to be about $60. It makes the B model very versatile.
