Yesterday was fun! Here are the stills -- video hopefully coming. Was neighbors camera and I cant seem to figure out getting the video into my computer and to the board. Will get it asap though.
(Durango is about 250 miles to the SW from the site --Canon City (Pronounced Canyon City )
Area we were blasting as of three weeks ago. Is directly in front of the vertical shaft.
long rang view of the area. note steel roof is the cover of the shaft and the blasting is to the right.
the drilling rig took about 2 hours to get down to the area. It was a total distance of 30 ft .
almost in place . note the tree just the rear was eventually donated to the firewood pile just to get correct position.
drilling was fun and NOISY , we needed ear plugs - of course we did not have them - dummies huh. Note the rock dust coming from the drill head
last check before the boom! They could not see me and were worried, when I called all OK they finally realized I was further away than anyone else and the counted 3 2 1 boom
the boom was disappointing just a good thump - but the drill holes were 15 foot deep. The dust cloud was 50 ft high. Took the small rocks about 3 seconds to finish falling -- fun but semi anti climatic as the prep was over 3 hours and the do was 321 thump . Any way the mound here is in front of a 5 ft hole that extends to the edge of the shaft.
different pic of hole edge. and some of the debris. There were 6 ea explosions and he did say the ground is now soft about 20 feet down and alongside of the vein.
second largest spoil found immediately. Most are under the blown-up dirt - now we need rain and muscle power to finish.
short video of the boom, to see just click on the pic
There will be another blast in month or two. WOO HOO.
