Now that is one really handsome young fellow and learning to be a rocker at that age is fantastic. Great job Grandpa!

What a fantastic way to spend some time with Grandpa! Both mine were gone before I was able to enjoy their company. I'm sure he'll remember these times always. Good for you Woody!

OK...so dumb newbie question....what is a round? Is it a piece of pet wood that is a complete branch as in "all the way around"?

Sue: Not a dumb question, we do not have those, all questions are good questions if you do not know.
My apologies for the assumption. Rounds are just what you guessed, a whole log, of branch, etc. section, always a better find than just a chunk, but it is easier to cut into a chunk than a round, hence the polishing of the end, or ends. Now to throw a new one in rounds come in two varieties, First are the petrified wood rounds in which the cell structure has been replaced by minerals, and you can see that cell structure, and even identify the tree specie. Second there are rounds that are limb casts where the outside structure is preserved but the inside is solid agate, opal, jasper, or a combination, and no cell structure can be observed. When dug, we thought all of these rounds were limb casts, but they all turned out to be petrified wood. Woody

looks like fun !! great job !! Woody thanks for the idea . my daughter has been wanting to try to grind . though holding a cab is intimidating . but face polishing should be much easier to learn . THANKS !! --paul
