ok...im back at it again...i preground a few more peices...this time some of the savannah river stuff cp found...theres about 15 peices of the river agate/chert...and a few peices of amythyest...in the pic they are in the middle on the left is some small peices of amythyst...and garnets....on the right is larger peices of tumbling rough....same agate/chert...along with some larger peices of amythyst (pre tumbled)...some tumbled filler rock...and a few large peices of pink granite. now what would you all do....all im experimenting with now is the preground peices. can i throw it all in 120/220...and expect the preground peices to be ok with all of the rough? or should i just wait until i have enough that has been thru 60/90...and needs to go back thru it again..and fill it with that? i know the pic isnt good...i only had a sec to take and download it..the pic shows what i had in the 3lb tumbler...i dumped it out to ask this question before going any further. ![](http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c386/fittycents/slabs012.jpg)

Is the stuff you had in 60/90 all ready to go on or does some still need more work. I've done a few pre-shaped pieces but I put mine in the 60/90 for a week just to make sure there were no deeper scratches left. I think I'd run them for a few days anyway (in 60/90), but then, I'm not sure what grit the wheel is your grinding them on.

the preground peices were done on an 80 grit wheel...all of the small peices on the left have been run thru all stages..and never shapep up...they were used as filler.
the peices on the right...some have been thru 60/90...and need to go back...some are filler rock..that have been thru it all...and some is completely rough.
the last time i preground rock...and put them in 60/90..i lost a lot more than i wanted to...still working on the paragraph thingy.

I would run some rough through 60/90 and when you were happy with the shape I would put the preground pieces in the 120/220 and run them together. Tami

Put the preground pieces into 120/200 and add the other smaller stuff until you have enough to fill the barrel. Most of that on the right looks like it needs more time in coarse but the shaping is all up to what you want it too look like, if a couple of those are ready put them in 120/200 too.
