Sometimes, I just get too many things going at one time and well, my rocks are being neglected for now.
Not only do I finally have a grandchild on the way which has caused a few other things to happen like crocheting a blanket, and making a quilt top, pinning it together and sending it to my Mom so she can do the quilting on it (for her gift) and also doing the framed wall hangings to match the quilt (again, my Mom will quilt those) and also working on putting in a garden.
Now, in the general way a garden is not a big deal...I tend to get carried away and over the years, I will set this up how I want it for years to come. This is the first year so we have only gotten the fencing in, the paths laid (no mulch yet and only some areas have been planted. It is all charted out according to when it is the best time to plant here. Check it out:
First, after the rain yesterday, some of my neglected rocks
My son and daughter in law are going with an under the sea theme for my grand daughter (soon to be with us) so my Mom is doing all the quilting on this one.
My garden is like a big L with a divit out of the heal.

We are trying out the potato condo. Each time the plants get to about 6 inches tall, you add soil half way up and screw in sides as they grow up. In the end, you have potatoes all the way up that you can harvest from the bottom, even before the plants are finished by unscrewing one side of the bottom to remove a few spuds... we will see if it works. So far, potatoes are up and seemed to love the downpour yesterday
There is a 1 foot mulch fabric all the way around the outer edge. Then a 2 foot planting area all the way around and then an 18 inch pathway between each section. No mulch down yet until we finish with the tiller and work on the flooding issues in some areas.
The far area with the mulch pile is the tomato section. It will be the last area planted
Onions and garlic are up or coming up. It is hard to see but under that mulching fabric, it is mounded up pretty high to keep the onions from rotting from too much water.
This front row has been planted. It is carrots but they are not up yet.
This center area will be some corn with melon hills on the outer edges. The corn is 63 days till we harvest so they should be out of there by the time the melons and pumpkins spread out and need the center space. gotta work on the mulching and laying out of rows still but the little white things in the background are dixie cups with the bottom removed. There are cabbage seeds planted in each one. I have been told that the cut worms that like to eat cabbage (as well as the corn ears) cannot climb up the cup so it naturally protects them. We will see if it works.
All in all, a lot of work but I am hoping it pays off with good crops. I have to still cut the timbers to fit between the fence posts on the inside area and staple the fence to the wood. Gotta keep the rabbits out. Also will get some tall pvc and drill holes to run fishing line though all the way around above the fence. If deer feel something but they can't see it, it spooks them and keeps them out (or so I have been told and it worked for my neighbor).
If I can get the last 3 items planted today that are scheduled for this weekend, I hope to cut some of my neglected rock. WISH ME LUCK!
