Stephan, I sure hope we are done with that white stuff! Our last snow was 3 weeks ago and it melted away pretty quick. The rocks are under that tree because when we moved in, there was a strange cinder block area right there and I have no idea what it is. It had nothing but weeds in it so I covered it with landscape fabric and started putting my rocks there. Looks pretty when I walk out my garage door. Fran Strange cinder block area??? Maybe it is a secret room filled with Confederate gold, an alien spaceship, or the body of Sasquatch...

Some days I think I am really crazy since not all of it is planted yet. One area at a time according to when it is best to plant them. Here is a picture of the garden on Easter, looking towards my neighbors beautiful flowering trees. This is the potato condo on Easter morning right after I added soil Here is the potato condo this evening. We added another board and added more soil. Supposedly, you can get up to 100 lbs of potatoes this way. Time will tell. It is a new experience for me. If I ever finish this crochet blanket, I will post a picture. It is close to done. Fran

Looking great,Fran. The yield is supposed to be greater done like this. The same theory applies to tires stacked on top of each other as the potato grows. I think yours is much more eye pleasing than a bunch of tires piled up.

Got to try that Potato Condo if the rain ever quits. Our ground is too wet to even think about putting the tiller to it. Nine inches of rain in April alone. Your garden is looking wonderful. Hopefully in the next few weeks all this rain will cease for long enough to till the garden and start planting.

Those are great pics Fran, thanks so much for sharing them. I love the idea of the potato condo, may have to try that one day when I have a place where I will be able to put in a garden. Keep us updated on how the garden grows, I'll garden vicariously for now :-) You are so well organized, even the rocks seem organized. That quilt looks awesome. Your neighbor's trees are just beautiful. The trees here have just barely started to bud.

Great pics, those flowering trees are aabsolutely beautiful. It is nice to see spring has sprung somewhere in the world as we are getting another few inches of snow this morning. Thanks for sharing those pics and brightening my mood.

Wednesday and Thursday we had another 2 inches of rain so I think by tonight we will have to add another round of wood. This will be the 3rd 6 inch tall piece so the potatoes are growing fast! (The weeds are too so I have a lot of work this weekend!) Fran

Well, when I come to work on Mondays, I feel like I have been beaten up and need a break! This body is just not as nimble as it once was and I move a lot slower too so not as much gets done as I would like! This weekend will be final preparation for planting the rest on the 7th of May. I like to have everything all set and just drop the seeds in then. Fran

Wow, the garden is looking great. Those potatoes seem to love that condo. Do you cover up the leaves and all when you add dirt and boards to it?

I try to get the dirt under the leaves and fill it in around the base of each stalk but you really can't avoid getting it on some of the leaves. They are so thick right now and very healthy looking! I will have to add more soil tonight (usually between two and 3 buckets full) and it will probably bring the level up to the top of the 3rd board. We will have to add another round this weekend. All the vine cucumbers (2 types), beans (5 types), squash (4 types), celery, and pumpkin was planted last weekend. I still have bush pickling cucs, basil, water melon and cantalope to plant and I will be done with this planting phase... I will pick all the mustard greens and half the spinach this weekend and get it cleaned up and stored. Fran

OK, does it make me wierd if looking at that pic of your garden makes me hungry? The grass is just starting to green up here and the tree buds are starting to swell but it will be a long time before i am eating fresh greens from my back yard. Thanks for the pics.
