5 weeks later, after fighting with the insurance company to keep them from totaling it, fighting with the tire company about their poorly made tires, having to order custom made parts because it was so customized and so many parts are no longer made for this model... took her down for a photo shoot at the barn that was in Days of Thunder. Couldn't get into the barn like I wanted to because it was just soggy wet. Still have work to do to finish her up, I have one week to get it road ready as I have to go to West Palm week after next for three weeks of training. Anyway, hope you like my baby, I love my 2006 PT Cruiser GT Convertible! Won my argument with Falken tires but switched over to Pirelli P6's with the money they gave me Took more than 100 shots, but wasn't feeling well and forgot my filter kit so almost all came out too streaky to keep. Next time, wait for dry ground and feel better!! lol Playing around to produce something for the office wall... so, today I'm sick as a dog, shouldn't have stood in water for hours shooting pictures, entire family is down with some upper respiratory crud but I can't slow down. Have to finish making a custom lower grill insert to protect the $800 Intercooler that we just put in. Had to shave the front bumper from behind just to get it installed. So, soon custom lower bumper inserts, then gotta get a larger turbo (321 hp, 325 lb ft torque, 2.4l just not enough power! lol), and a few other items. Hoping to run on Palm Beach International race track while I'm in WPB...

She's looking good. My son just retired his 04 PT. Clutch was making a racket and the engine in the old gal was just a knocking away. Put 180000 on her. He was sad to see it go. Bought himself a 300. Man that is. A lot of car.

duke ..I like your car ... unfortunately I only drove 2 pt cruisers and they were both rentals so at like 13 k miles the trannies were slipping ... I actually loved the design of the car when they first came out and then I had the rental experience ... I know that car rental companies actually make deals with major car brands to sell there cars and get them cheaper ...... but in my case it worked against them by the consumer recking havoc on rentals and destroying trannies ... ... So Iam curious ?how are there trannies in these ?since I see Stefan said 180k!!!!INfact 3 out of 5 rentals I drove had bad trannies! and I have probably rented a good 50 cars in my life ...

Greg, big difference in my PT and those rental PT's. First, it's a high-output PT GT with turbo charger, second it's a five speed manual tranny, Getrag G288, really nice tranny. Also, dyno tuned to 260whp, 325 lb ft torque for regular driving, 321whp for racing. I carry a DSP tuner with me almost every where I go in case I find a race track to run on...lol... Anyway, much much different from the 150hp PT's the rental companies buy.
There are several types of PT's out there. There's the turbo GT's, there's a model we affectionately call the "turbo lite", same turbo, detuned for better mileage. Then there's a few variations to the normally aspirated engine. You even have models with paddle shifters. All depends on what you can find as now they only make one type and it's just the basic run of the mill PT.
One of the reasons I bought it was that so many show up with lots and lots of miles on them. The 100k+ club for PT's is huge. So I wanted a fun car, spunky, had to be a convertible, had to have decent trunk space but could fold down seats to convert to even more space. Had to be small and easy to get around in. Now I've put around 1100 hours into working on mine and hoping it lasts to the 200k mile club!!!

That's one sweet car Robin. It must love you as much as you love it. Cars seem to have an aura about them and that one is perfect for you. Love that picture for your office but the last one is my favorite. Great photography!

Thanks for all the responses. Kinda bummed me out, I had no filters and it was a very flat light day, most of the photos were streaked so really wasted about an hour shooting. Should have known better. I usually carry a pocket point and shoot camera and didn't, that would have gotten me a lot of great shots in this weather. Ho hum. Always tomorrow... well, today working on the car to get it read for the 10 hour drive to Florida. Some of you made some really great suggestions on places I should visit, so I gotta get me some really good mud boots for that trip!
