Big day up here in Massachusetts. We may be the only state that celebrates patriots day but it's a real big deal. We had the reenactmentment of the first battle earlier this morning. Last week we had the Pole Capping in my little town(bedford-home of the first battle flag). later this morning the boston marathon and the red sox. It doesn't get any better than this.

Enjoy the festivities. My sister will be running Boston next year - maybe. They've changed the registration procedure and because she just barely made her qualifying time, the marathon might be filled before she gets her chance to register...

the field is 27000 this year.It was filled in 8 hours. the organizers took a lot of spit from runners who were shut out after doing what they thought was the hard part, running the qualifying time of (3:05 male or 3:35 female in the prime 18-35 age group. They don't want to raise the entry price higher or make it a lottery...but they recognize the need for change and I think they are adding some category for people who beat their previous best time by twenty minutes(in their age group) for two days and subsequent spots for people who beat their best time by less than that.
Of course, this being the center of capitalism, you can still buy your way in like a Good American(or run like an Ethiopian)!
Hope she makes it and has a good time...I'll be looking for her.

It was a great race. world record time for the men (but not recognizeable since the Boston course is run downhill from 26 miles inland at Hopkington at about 470 feet above sea levelto the city at sea level. Top American finished fourth in what I believe is the fastest marathan ever run by an American. The woman had a great race too. A US contender jockeyed with the leader in the last mile and finshed second
Nice day- around 60 with a breeze oof the west ,not the ocean

When I lived in NH we drove down to watch the re-enactment. Had to start out around 3:30 am and when we got there it was already nearly standing room only. But it was worth it. We then went down to Concord to watch them there.

yeah the reenactment is right in our backyard, Lexington and it starts early...my kids were hard to get started at that time...The North Bridge in Concord is probably where you might have gone, great area. I was driving through Concord just before dusk Saturday and the Minutemen were all dressed up as they prepared for their gala Ball...BTW- you can retire now...I know I'm about to.
