i had posted a tread on here that where i completely ran down lortone tumblers. i must apologize. i was ripped of on ebay, i found out that my lortone was actually a chicago tumbler. first i will say say to lortone, and then i will say sorry to anyone i may have discouraged from buying a lortone. apparently i do not have an opinion on lortone tumblers because apparently i do not own one. But i do have an opinion on chicago tumblers.....dont buy one. I also have an opinion on the username (metrogift) on ebay. they say its lortone....but its chicago, and they take the chicago plaque off. they advertise as lortone. this tumbler has completely fallen apart on me. i will fix it but i basically will take the motor and rebuild every bushing, fan, pulley, and even redrill the hole where the rods go through. hats off though to gem-zone on ebay, who sold me the pietersite, and helped me discover the rip off lortone i bought. i am reposting this on this thread which was originally posted on another thread.

Isn't that why Harbro Freight sells Chigaco!
Bummer you got screwed on eBay - My buddy called me the other day and he got ripped as well. The new scam they are doing is sell the item, charge you shipping and they ship your package with no return address and postage due. So in order to get your goods you have to pay the Post Office when you pick it up.
Just don't understand the mentality of people. The power of the dollar is greater than human respect for each other.

Isn't there some sort of buyer protection against fraud on ebay?

Have you filed a complaint with eBay?

I am sorry to hear it. I noticed that their rating is 98.2% which is pretty low for someone selling in volume. Chicago tumblers are junk for the most part. I went down the Chicago tumbler path for a while and found them full of problems. As far as using the motor from the tumbler, it may break down as others have. There are threads dedicated to Chicago tumblers here on the board. With some work you can get it going but at that point you are basically building your own tumbler. Thanks for the warning about the seller. Steve

There are plnty of threads here about rebuilding your CE tumbler with lortone parts. It isn't very difficult and the machine runs like the lortone it so closely mimics. Parts of the CE are actually pretty sturdy, but not the motor or belts or pulleys. Lortobne sells replacements for all these. The lortone motor could have more guts, but it doesn't have a plastic rotor cap assembly that flexes and allows the rotor to contact the stator and stall. The CE motor CAN'T be fixed.
Contact eBay but register a fraud complaint, not a request for a refund. i id that once and thety wanted $25 per item from the same vender to help me recover my money- more than I spent. The vendor, Bargainland, is still on ebay to my knowledge. I was able to get recourse from Paypal, but not for the full amount. You may also have some recourse through your credit card company if you used one. I have had very few bad experiences on eBay, and I think most of the vendors are honsest. Those that aren't should be processed into into pet food.
