Was able to cut a few slabs & make a some preforms for us to practice on. Have a bunch of translucent jasp-agate but need to experiment on the average stuff first. Yellow jasper from Lavic Siding and jasp-agate from Desert Oasis, Cady Mountains, Mojave Desert, CA. I sure like these rocks. No sun out today but you can see through it. No pits or cracks. Solid stuff and cuts smooth as glass. Larry

As a newbee, I'm starting to feel the frustration you guys get while cutting slabs. Those darn hair line cracks show up in the worse places! I am learning how to "read" the rocks before I waste my time cutting them. I'm still saving the good stuff for last while I'm going through the learning process. I'm trying to slab the solid stuff so we can start practicing cabbing. Only 4 more years until retirement and I get to do this full time!
