I have a small slabs I bought on the saw area that should be polished in a month or so. I was thinking of trying to wrap a couple of those as a beginner project.
I look at a couple of the tutorials for wrapping cabs.
Does anyone have any info on wrapping slabs? Do you think they'd come out okay. I'm thinking pieces about 3/4-1". I might trim a couple to interesting non-symmetric shapes (I'd never be able to do precise angles) using a diamond wheel on a Dremel.

Basically almost anything can be wrapped included polished small slabs. I have wrapped a few but prefer cabs just because they are easier for me. The uneven edges are a challenge for me. Following the tutorials would work but you'd just have to modify the design to fit the rock. I would think it would be harder to start off wrapping rough pieces but you could try it and see for yourself. I know of some wrappers on here who are really good at wrapping odd shaped or partly rough material so hope they chime in here.

Slabs are fun to wrap. One of mine when I was a beginner wrapper (pre RTH member) was a small slab of polished Larimar. Trying to wrap it really forced me to stretch my abilities but it was fun and the person who owns it still wears and loves it.
I hope you post pics when you do wrap one.

Let me see if I have a pic of one I did not that long ago. It was a very small slab, but I loved the colors. Not the best wrap, but it was my first slab wrap and I'll definitely do it again.

Here is the small slab I wrapped last month. I would definitely do this again. Wire is silver and copper

This is a tumbled slab of Arizona Rainbow wood... Lori's ( sitnwrap ) is right... slabs are fun. With all the odd angles there are so many different ways to securely hold the stone. Your only limit is your imagiation Chris
