Has anyone ever tried to make square and half round wire as an alternative to sending in scraps? With the amount of scraps I have built up, it might be economical for me to buy a draw plate, ingot mold and the hammers, etc. I have done a little silversmithing years ago so I know most of what is involved, but I wanted to see if anyone here has done it. I may have access to a rolling mill also. It's that or send my scraps in for a credit. Steve

My approach to most things (home or auto repair, hobbies, etc) is asking myself "can I do it?" Even if I have to invest some $ in tools or equipment that I don't have, I feel I can reuse them at a later date and still come out ahead cost wise. I also know the job will be done right, and control the quality too.
I also like to add in the "fun" factor. How cool would it be to see the look on people's faces when you tell them you made the wire!?!
I say, Go For It Steve!
