Or has anyone else noticed that all news stories are about the royal wedding when we are still searching rubble and clearing roads to get to neighborhoods in the south that were destroyed by Tornado's this week. There are still injured being pulled from rubble and bodies being found. Just seems that our press is really backwards on things that are news and things that are important events/fluff pieces. Sorry if I offend but when there is something so traumatic going on, it should at least be featured as large or larger than this wedding. I had to search small captions on the cover pages of each news agency in order to get to the Souths devastation. ABC News didn't even list it. You had to do a story search and the rest had small captions. Unbelievable! Fran

Problem is there will always be death and destruction- But how often do you get to see the Queen dressed in Yellow? Yea I watched for a bit- heck there really wasn't anything else on this morning- and I couldn't sleep. As the Brits would say- She Looked SMASHING!

Um, pick up a newspaper. The front page of this morning's Houston Chronicle has the following stories: (Lead story and six-column photo) Tornadoes in South, property values continue to slide, final shuttle launch and a local story about a father who found his son's body after a car accident. Inside are three more stories on the tornadoes.
Fact is, people complain about things not being covered by the news media all the time, and most of those complaints are just plain incorrect. Hell, even Obama's assertion that more attention was paid to the birther BS than the deficit reduction plans and economic crisis was a load. The reason people even know about things they complain aren't being covered is because they ARE being covered. Maybe not with the spin some folks want. This happens a lot with talk radio. Well, how do you think those yakkers even know about the latest outrage.
There are plenty of sources for news out there. Can't find what you want in the old standbys? Look somewhere else.
This is not to say that journalistic standards haven't fallen. They have. But it's not as bad as some folks make it sound (and this is in no way intended as a blast back at you, Fran. I am speaking in generalities).

Yep, wars, natural disasters, failing economies and all the news doofuses want us to watch a spoiled rich folks' wedding that is just a bunch of frilly pomp and circumstance, and waste of time and money in a nation with an economy in worse trouble than ours. Great sense of priority there. I could care less about watching it too.
PS: America has been taking quite a thrashing. On the home front with all the damage from tornados, floods, fires etc. It'll be interesting seeing how our Pres prioritizes things. Will he continue to rebuild foreign countries and fight foreign wars or will he try to repair the damage here at home first. Always find it interesting how our government always seems to find money to give free to other countries but when folks here at home need it the politicians seem to fiddle like Nero did when Rome was burning.....Mel
