well my last batch came out today and was a total mess, after two weeks in tripoli they were looking great, sent them into polish and they came out today a wreck. not shiny at all, somehow I must have got a peice of sandstone or something in there, then there is a purple rock I had in that has shiny silver spots all over it, it looks like aluminum in the rock and it really marked up all the other rocks with aluminum streaks all over them, kinda disappointing, so they will need to go back to a grit stage to remove the aluminum deposits and go ahead from there. guess it happens, but man it really is annoying, lol. hope everyone elses tumbles are going better!

oh they will get fixed, it is just annoying to have four weeks of tumbling down the drain when they looked so good going into the final stage, lol. very frustrating anyway, lol.

I used to hate it when something went wrong and it took weeks to correct it. With the Lot-O-Tumbler I can now correct a load in just 2-4 days! GREAT little machine.

When you get it licked, you'll be doubly proud of this batch! Don't forget to use cushion in the polish too, new stuff that is grit free. Jo

I was complaining about a couple bad batches I had at a local rock shop, and the owner told me to burnish before going on to prepolish and polish. Ever since I have done that, I haven't had any major failures. I think it really helps clean out any missed grit. It always amazes me how much junk comes out when I dump out the water from burnishing.

I Quite agree with danb above
This stage (18 hours) burnishing ( to me) is very important in fact after this stage they have a good polish on, even befor going into the polishing stage

thanlks all, and I thinl I will start doing a burnish between all stages, I know it seems to help when I have done it before. guess theres not much can be done about a rock pocket opening up, just gotta deal with it,lol.
