So here's my Sunday update: I went back, couldn't resist. Most of the smaller stuff was gone and my saw is not big enough for the bigger stuff. So, I went to the slab bins and picked out some cool stuff to make cabs with. When I dropped the kids off at my brother's house for the birthday party, my sister-in-law's mom asked me to buy her a piece of amethyst if he had any left. Here is what I got her, 6.5lb beauty (almost wanted to keep it for myself ) Here's the slabs I got for $10.00 Close ups: Left one back-lit: More close ups: Now this one is very cool! The guy said "This is Chinese material that I bought from Dan Heuer, you'll love it." I kept thinking....I know that name! Dang if I didn't get most of the way home and then thought....Highplainsdrifter! Could it be? I'm curious, if I remember correctly he was featured in Rock&Gem Magazine so guessing this is his but... If you see this thread Dan, would sure like to know if the world is really that small, did this stuff come from you? Thanks! ~Krystee

I'm not sure Nate....
The guy that sold it to me is not an RTH member but he said he bought it from Dan Heuer. He said the name as if I should know who he was talking about. I'm guessing since most rock hounds subscribe to Rock & Gem, that most likely, it is the same Dan Heuer aka Highplainsdrifter. But, I can't be sure since I didn't ask the guy "How do you spell the name?"
If indeed this is the same Dan, then hopefully he can tell me a little bit about this Chinese material. I sent him a pm to see if this was his stuff. It's quite beautiful and unlike anything I've seen before. It also has a few clear areas when back lit.

Dan responded to my pm.... He said it didn't look familiar, BUT..... he used to live in Oregon and sold and traded with many different folks in my area.... So.... it remains a Chinese mystery for now ~Krystee
